National Botanical Gardens
It was
originally established as a city garden in 1915.
In 1999, the new name was given as National
Kandawgyi Garden. It covers an area of 437
acres, including a huge lake and forest serve. The huge lake
is one of the attractions of the Garden, The
garden is adorned with varieties of flowers
(over 200 varieties of orchids including over
100 species of Myanmar orchids). There are 482
domestic species represented by 12,127 trees.
Not only rare species of plants, but also rare
species of water birds such as the Mandarin
Duck, the Mute Swan, and the Black Swan may also
be sighted, as well as terrestrial species such
as peafowl and a wide variety of other birds. It
is one of the best place for ecotourism. It is
very nice to stroll around in the garden.
Moneywingyi Wetland Wildlife Sanctuary
It is
established in 1986, The Moayingyi Wetland
Sanctuary is located about 110 km from Yangon.
It is accessible by the route Yangon-Bago-Pyinpongyi.
The total area of the Moeyingyi Wetland
Sanctuary is about 40 sq. mile. From November to
March is the best period to visit this Sanctuary
area. During this period, thousands of birds
from northern Asia arrive here to avoid cold
winter out there. This is a stopover place for
these birds. According to the census conducted
in 1998, total number of 4,000 birds inhibited
in the Sanctuary.
Visitors can
enjoy resident and migratory water birds and
nature view. And also can study wetland
environment by boat.
Khakaborazi National Park
It is
established in 1996 and located about 40 Km from
Puta-O. It covers area of over 1400 sq. miles.
It is safe haven for rare species such as Takin,
Deer, Musk, Blue Sheep, and Black Barking Deer.
Exotic plants and animals can be seen in this
national park. A few years ago, a new species of
deer was found in this area.
